Ms. Doree is driven to help students overcome barriers that impact their learning. In 2017, Ms. Doree began her role as a middle school counselor at Somerset Academy South Homestead. Since the beginning of her college career, she has been motivated to help youth be their best. She began her journey in youth work as a counselor for the Police Athletic League in Homestead, FL. She also attended Miami Dade College in Homestead, FL where she completed her Associates degree in Psychology.
After receiving her A.A., she moved to New York. While living in New York, she continued to work with inner city youth as a school counselor in Brooklyn, NY. She later became an Assistant Program Director for PAL helping young adolescents bridge the gap between the police and community, improving leadership skills in middle school students, and developing programs that support social and emotional skills. She completed her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology at Long Island University.
Ms. Doree returned to Miami where she taught elementary youth for two years. Ms. Doree is an active member of her community and an advocate for the youth she serves. Her passion to support families in her community has always been evident in the work she has done. She completed her Masters in Social Work at Widener University. She is a certified behavioral therapist who specializes in working with children with autism and ADHD.
Besides her many professional roles, Ms. Doree is a mother of two boys who love to travel, cook, read and spend her quality time with family and friends.
As a SASH counselor, Ms. Doree is excited to continue her commitment and connection to young people, which is her motivation each day.
