Jason Killins
Mr. Jason Killins is a native Miamian who was educated in the Miami-Dade Public School system. After graduating from Miami Sunset Sr. High school, Mr. Killins continued his studies at Florida A&M University and Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. Majoring in political science and minoring in history, he received a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.

He later returned to Miami and accepted a position with the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). While employed by DCF for five years as a senior child investigator, he learned first-hand about the effects child abuse and neglect have on vulnerable children. Determined to help children in a different capacity, Mr. Killins returned to the education arena joining the Somerset Academy South Homestead family. At Somerset, he has served as Assistant Flag Football Coach and school sponsor of the Student Government Association.

Mr. Killins will be embarking on the fifth year of his mission to invest in children as a 7th grade civics and 12th grade high school social studies teacher. In 2017-2018 he was named SASH High School Teacher of The Year. He looks forward to having another successful and productive year.

There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.
