Miss Elynn Gayol
Miss Gayol is a fourth generation teacher, who is extremely passionate about her career and her students. She began teaching “on a dare” from her mother, a forty year veteran of the school system. She told her to try it out for a year, to see if she liked it and she is very glad she took that dare.

Miss Gayol was born and raised in Miami, FL and this year, she will commence her fourteenth year as an educator and her fourth at Somerset Academy South Homestead. Her approach to teaching involves incorporating cutting-edge technological resources, unconventional teaching methodologies and intensive literary analysis in order to optimize her students’ learning environment, preparing them for an academic career in the 21st century.

Miss Gayol’s hobbies include reading, bullet-journaling, bike riding and yoga. Among her favorite novels are Siddhartha, Fahrenheit 451, and Animal Farm.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree (Pre-Law) English Literature and minor in International Relations from Florida International University and she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree from The American College of Education, in Curriculum and Instruction. She is certified to teach English 6-12 and she is recognized as a highly qualified teacher by Miami-Dade County Public Schools, due to her prior students’ significant gains and scores on the FCAT/FSA examinations.

Miss Gayol is also a member of the National Council of Teachers of English. She will be taking on a great new challenge this year teaching French I to high school students as well as, reprising her role as the 8th grade Language Arts teacher, which she absolutely adores.
